What's This?

Tekumel aka 'Empire of the Petal Throne' (EPT) is a fantasy role-play game.

Tekumel is the most richly varied and detailed fantasy world ever created. The detail and novelty of the world are far in excess of Middle Earth, Talisanta, Glorantha, Harn or any of the backgrounds created by TSR and WotC (for D&D). Tekumel surpasses them all by a country mile.

How do I join the game?

To join the game you must e-mail me at in advance to tell me you want to play. You can't just turn up on time and introduce yourself for the first time there and then. Casual gamers will be lost. I don't demand that people read hundreds of pages of background. If you can turn up most weeks, role-play (rather than rule-play) then you will fit right in. I can give my new players little snippets of briefings as the game progresses.

This game is not for casual gamers who just want a one-off session. You need to be prepared to turn-up most weeks OR to already know something about the background.

You need to be prepared to spend 3-4 hours per week gaming online. The game is weekly, on Sunday 6pm GMT (= 1pm EST) at OpenRPG Dev II. (This time may be changed to about 7:00 pm on a week-day, if it suits most of my players.)

To play, we use a free program called OpenRPG, which you will need to install on your computer. OpenRPG is a program for playing online games. It works like a chat system. There are some additions such as automatic dice rolls. OpenRPG can be downloaded here. You will probably need an always on Internet connection because a dial-up line may be too unreliable.
